Meghalaya FC secures 3rd place in 2nd edition of Indo-French Football Tournament

Shillong, Mar 30 (UNI) In a historic achievement for Indian football, the U-17 team from Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School, Ri Bhoi District, has secured an impressive third place finish in the second edition of the Indo-French Football Tournament held from March 25-29 in Paris, France.
The team earned their spot in this prestigious international tournament through their outstanding performance as runners-up in the Subroto Cup 2024.
Their journey to the final included dominant victories, notably a 23-0 win against Daman & Diu and a 7-0 semifinal triumph, culminating in a thrilling penalty shootout (4-3) against Manipur in the final.
Prior to their Paris campaign, the team underwent intensive training under Bobby L. Nongbet, Head Coach (AFC A License) , Kitborlang Kharlukhi, Coach andCarmelius Ramshon, Manager.
The 16-member squad, fully sponsored by the Meghalaya government, competed against top French clubs namely FC Versailles who came in first place, Sarcelles FC remained confined to second place, Meghalaya FC clinched the 3rd spot and Grigny FC came fourth.
Despite fierce competition, the young Meghalaya stars showcased exceptional skill and determination to secure their podium finish.
This historic achievement marks a significant milestone for football in Meghalaya and India.
The team’s performance on this global stage has inspired countless young athletes and demonstrated the growing potential of Indian football talent.
