Chamba, Apr 28 (UNI) An earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale shook Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district early Monday, causing momentary panic among residents.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the tremors were felt at 5:41 am. The epicentre was located at latitude 32.79 degrees north and longitude 76.20 degrees east, with a depth of 5 kilometers.
A State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) official said the earthquake's intensity was very low, and no damage to life or property was reported.
Chamba district lies in seismic zone IV, classified as a high-risk area for earthquakes. However, Monday’s tremors were considered minor and not a cause for concern.
