Miss World 2025 contestants from 22 nations celebrate Buddha Purnima at Buddhavanam

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) Miss World 2025 contestants from 22 countries across the Asia-Oceania region visited the Buddhavanam Buddhist Heritage Theme Park at Nagarjunasagar on Monday to mark the occasion of Buddha Purnima.

The visit was part of a cultural immersion and spiritual experience hosted by the Telangana Tourism Department.

Contestants from countries including India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey, China, Thailand and Armenia participated in the celebrations.

The event began with special prayers conducted by Buddhist monks from the Mahabodhi and Nelekuppe monasteries. The contestants engaged in meditation sessions and spiritual programmes near the grand Buddha stupa, experiencing the tranquility and significance of the sacred site.

Before the event, the participants rested briefly at Vijay Vihar, a Telangana Tourism facility, and later took part in a photo shoot amid the scenic beauty of the area.

Dr E Siva Nagi Reddy, Buddhist scholar and heritage expert, guided the contestants through the forested complex, explaining the significance of the Jataka sculptures and various installations that depict the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha.

The visitors were particularly impressed by the sprawling meditation hall—one of the largest of its kind—and the array of intricate statues portraying key episodes from the Buddha’s life.

The visit not only offered the contestants a serene spiritual experience but also highlighted Telangana's commitment to preserving and promoting its Buddhist heritage on a global platform.
