Mizoram teen crowned U-19 boys’ champion at All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament

Aizawl, May 2 (UNI) Mizoram teenager H. Lalthazuala was crowned champion in the under-19 boys’ singles category at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2025, which concluded today (Friday).
The prestigious and highly anticipated national-level tournament was held in Panchkula, Haryana. Thazuala, seeded 11th, defeated third seed Ansh Negi in straight sets 21-19, 21-16 in the final. On his way to the title, he also overcame Mahendra Kalahasthi, Dhyan Santosh, Dev Ruparelia, and Pranauv Ram.
Apart from Thazuala, another Mizoram teen C Lalramsanga bagged silver medals in both the U-19 mixed doubles and U-19 boys’ doubles events, while Lalrempuii, partnering with Tanoo Chandra, secured a bronze medal in the girls’ doubles category.
The Mizoram Badminton Association (MBA), in a statement, expressed immense pride at the achievement, noting that Mizo shuttlers had brought home one gold, two silvers, and one bronze medal from a major national tournament. The association also praised the players for their impressive performances throughout the competition.
