Negligence in public welfare work unacceptable: Yogi

Negligence in public welfare work unacceptable: Yogi

Lucknow, Mar 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that negligence in public welfare work is unacceptable, there is no shortage of good people and they should be encouraged.

The CM visited the Command Center at Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan and reviewed the performance of various departments and projects across the state. He issued necessary directives and said that departments and schemes should be monitored under just three categories, A, B and C.

He said that at the district level, reviews should be conducted daily, on alternate days, weekly and fortnightly. "An officer should be appointed at the district level to ensure that the reported data is accurate. Besides, a ministerial review should be conducted once a month and all reports should be submitted to the CM Office," he said.

Yogi emphasised the importance of adhering to deadlines for services like inheritance and land use approvals. "A ranking system has been developed to track and monitor the progress of flagship schemes in the state. It is necessary to focus on its quality and speed. Departments and projects that are lagging in these areas need to improve. All categories should be performance-based, ensuring accountability at every level," he said.

Regarding well-performing departments, he said that the focus should not be on numbers but on quality. "Both quality and transparency are essential," he said.

He directed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department to further promote the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and explore the possibility of including district-specific food products under the scheme.

The CM stressed the need for random checks on the performance data provided by departments. "In review meetings led by the Chief Secretary, discussions should focus on the top 10 departments and schemes. Presentations of the top-performing departments should be shared with others to highlight their working methods and identify areas for improvement. Their reports and success stories should be shared with other departments. Besides, efforts should be made to analyse the reasons behind the poor performance of certain departments," he said.

He directed that if a government scheme or campaign is not 100 percent saturated, its objective remains incomplete. "Regular checks should be conducted and every department must monitor progress daily," he said.

Yogi emphasised that while designing schemes, officials should ensure they benefit the maximum number of people. He said that setting small targets just for formality should be avoided, instead, goals should be set based on actual capacity.

While reviewing IGRS, he said that the satisfaction percentage related to IGRS cases should increase. He directed that departments like Revenue, Police, Health, District Administration, Municipal Corporation, Panchayati Raj and others must ensure accountability in handling complaints. He emphasised using technology while giving priority to the resolution of problems.

Reviewing the status of key projects, the CM said that all projects must progress on schedule and necessary actions should be taken to ensure timely completion. He also directed that continuous photo updates of projects like the Kanpur Metro should be uploaded to keep officials informed.

Regarding e-procurement cases, he directed that all requisitions be thoroughly checked at the department level before submission. Besides, he ordered the swift resolution of pending cases on the Nivesh Mitra portal.
