Mumbai, May 1 (UNI) Mumbai Indians on Thursday announced that leg spinner Raghu Sharma will replace Vignesh Puthur for the remainder of the season.
Puthur, who was ruled out due to bone stress reactions in both shins, will continue his recovery with the Mumbai Indians Medical and Strength & Conditioning (S&C) team.
Raghu, 32, comes in after being a part of the Mumbai Indians' support bowlers' roster. Having played 11 First-Class matches, nine List A games, and three T20s for Punjab and Puducherry, he has demonstrated remarkable skills, including five five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket hauls in First-Class cricket.
His recent performances in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy have also been noteworthy, with 14 wickets in eight matches for Punjab.
Vignesh, who made an impactful debut for Mumbai Indians, picking up three wickets in a memorable match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has featured in five games, taking six wickets overall. Mumbai Indians have expressed their support for Vignesh, wishing him a speedy recovery as he focuses on rehabilitation.
The team welcomes Raghu Sharma and looks forward to his contributions in the ongoing season.
