Signify opens 320th Philips Smart Light Hub in India, targets 500 stores in 2-3 years

Hyderabad, Apr 9 (UNI) Signify, the global lighting major and owner of the Philips brand, inaugurated its 320th Philips Smart Light Hub in India and the fifth in Hyderabad at Nagole on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media during the launch, Raja Moudgil, Business Head – Smart Homes and Switches, Signify Greater India, said the company plans to expand its footprint to 500 stores across India within the next two to three years.

Moudgil highlighted that the company operates under a multi-brand portfolio, including Philips, WiZ, and Dynalite, with over 20 lighting brands globally under its umbrella. “We are a Dutch multinational with a strong manufacturing presence in India for over 80 years. Our India headquarters is based in Gurugram, and we operate two major production units in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra,” he said.

The Nagole store houses over 400 products, making it a one-stop solution for homeowners, offering everything from decorative chandeliers and wall lights to advanced smart lighting systems. “Our smart lighting portfolio includes about 50 connected products operable via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile apps. These products are aimed at enhancing convenience and energy efficiency,” Moudgil said.

He noted that smart lighting currently accounts for around 20 per cent of the total lighting industry and is growing at a robust 25 per cent annually. “In fact, our smart lighting division recorded a 47 per cent growth last year, and we are on track to achieve 45 per cent this year,” he added.

Signify’s innovative offerings include IoT-enabled lighting and the recently launched designer fans with energy-efficient BLDC motors. The company is also gearing up to launch a connected smart lighting range in the decorative segment, featuring mood-based customizable chandeliers and wall lights.

Commenting on Hyderabad’s importance, Moudgil stated, “Hyderabad is among the fastest-growing cities in India, especially in terms of premium housing. That’s why we’ve opened five stores here and plan to open more as new areas develop.”

The company operates through a franchise model and maintains a strong retail presence across metros and tier-2 and tier-3 cities. “We are expanding into emerging towns like Kakinada and Hisar, aligning with India’s urban growth,” he said.

Signify also emphasised its focus on quality, customer service, and innovation. “We don’t just sell products—we offer end-to-end lighting solutions, including personalised in-home consultations and installations. Every product delivers a world-class experience,” Moudgil assured.

The company is also involved in exports to neighbouring countries and the Middle East, supported by local and global R&D centers, including one in Noida.
