IPL 2025 : RR field first against DC at Arun Jaitley Stadium

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first in IPL Match 32 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the toss, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson stated that the wicket looked good and was expected to improve in the second half of the game. He emphasised the competitive nature of the league and the team's focus on putting in a good performance, regardless of past results.
Rajasthan have decided to field the same team as their previous match.
Delhi captain Axar Patel mentioned that he would have been comfortable bowling first as well, anticipating the possibility of dew in the second innings. However, he expressed the team's readiness to bat first and aim for a big score.
Reflecting on their previous game, where they fell short in a chase, Axar acknowledged that there were learnings to be taken, particularly regarding the middle phase of their innings. He confirmed that Delhi would also be fielding the same team for this encounter.
The toss can play a crucial role in day-night cricket matches, especially with the potential influence of dew in the later stages of the game. Dew can make the ball slippery, potentially affecting the bowlers' grip and the fielders' ability to handle the ball cleanly, often providing an advantage to the chasing team.
The Jaitley pitch is anticipated to be good for batting, with high scores being a common feature in recent matches at this venue. However, it is also expected to slow down as the game progresses, which could bring the spinners into play.
Both teams will be looking to secure a positive result in this match. Delhi will aim to bounce back after their recent loss, while Rajasthan will be eager to improve their standing in the league.
Teams:
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson(w/c), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande
