Shahid Afridi spews anti-India venom, Gaurav Bidhuri gives fiery response, reminds him of 1971 humiliation

Islamabad/New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, repeating his usual anti-India rant, called India’s threats of retaliation as nothing more than empty words and derided the Indian military, bragging about Pakistan military’s so-called superiority. His words were met with a swift and fiery response from Indian bronze medallist-boxer Gaurav Bidhuri, reminding him of Pakistan’s humiliating defeat in 1971.

Amid escalating tensions following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack which led to the deaths of 26 tourists, in a televised address on Samaa TV, Afridi spewed his usual vitriol.

He called the Indian Army “useless”, called Islam a “religion of peace”, and said that India was trying to scare Pakistan and that there was not a shred of evidence connecting Pakistan to the Pahalgam terror attack. He went on his usual tangent of Indian “aggression”, and wrongly claimed that over “800,000” Indian soldiers were deployed in Kashmir but were unable to do anything.

Bidhuri, who had won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Boxing Championships held in Germany, responded to Afridi’s rants in a fiery fashion. Slamming the Islamist cricketer for his vitriolic statements, and said that the entire world was aware of Islamabad’s support of terrorism.

Bashing him further, he mocked the cricketer by comparing the status of the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Premier League.

Giving Afridi a reality check, Bidhuri defended the Indian Army and reminded the former Pakistani cricketer of Pakistan’s international humiliation in 1971, when 93,000 soldiers surrendered to the Indian Army.

“Indian cricket team, अब #ShahidAfridi हमें सिखाएंगे! (Now Shahid Afridi will teach us!) 93K Pak soldiers surrendered in ‘71, #IndianArmy need no schooling. The world knows Pakistan’s role in sponsoring terror. We need not give any proof. I stand firmly with our security forces,” he wrote on X.
