Agartala, Apr 15 (UNI) The Chennai city police on Tuesday took two youths from Tripura to Tamil Nadu who were arrested on Monday with the assistance of state police in Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district on the charge of a theft case in Chennai recently.
Based on digital inputs of movement, a team of Chennai City police arrived here on Monday and picked up two brothers - Liton Mia and Biton Mia, residents of Charilam Aralia Uormura who have been accused of stealing gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from a residence in Chennai on April 7.
They have been working as construction labourers in Chennai for a long time. After committing the theft, they allegedly returned to their village in Tripura. The affected family promptly lodged a complaint with the Thiruvanmiyur Police Station on the same day, and police launched an investigation.
They were initially taken to the Bishalgarh police station, where legal procedures were completed. Later, the accused were flown back to Chennai for further interrogation and trial.
Meanwhile, the family members of the accused broke down in tears as the police took the duo to Agartala airport for Chennai.
