TSF calls for indefinite strike seeking Roman script for Kokborok

Agartala, Mar 20 (UNI) The Tripura Students Federation (TSF), an Indigenous students' organization affiliated with North East Students Organisation (NESO), has announced an indefinite blockade of all National Highways from Friday demanding Roman script for Kokborok (language spoken by tribal).
TSF General Secretary Hamalu Jamatia demanded a fresh exam of Madhyamik for Kokborok the question paper of which was set in Bengali script early this week and the students of English medium weren't able to write the exam. Also, sought to reschedule the Higher Secondary exam of the Kokborok language slated on Friday.
TSF leaders expressed frustration over the prolonged neglect of their demands, and said, “We have been persuading authorities over finalization of Kokborok script. Last year, we met the Governor. We also submitted a memorandum to the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and CBSE, urging them to ensure Kokborok question papers are available in both scripts, and we were assured,” Jamatia underlined.
