Arunachal Assembly’s Privilege panel initiates breach of privilege motion against RWD official

Itanagar, May 6 (UNI) The first sitting of the Privilege Committee of the 8th Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, who also heads the Committee.
A communiqué from the office of Speaker Tesam Pongte said that during the session, the Committee initiated a breach of privilege motion against NL Kamin, Superintending Engineer of the Rural Works Department (RWD), Rupa Circle. The motion stems from allegations raised by MLA Kumar Waii, representing the 8-Bamang Assembly Constituency.
Both parties were heard at length during the sitting. The Privilege Committee has commenced a thorough investigation into the matter. Once the allegations are substantiated, action will be initiated in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, as empowered under Article 194 of the Constitution of India, the communiqué said.
Members present at the meeting included legislators Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Puinnyo Apum, Hayeng Mangfi, and Hage Appa, Advocate General Indraneel Chowdhury, Assembly Secretary Tadar Meena, and Additional Secretary Agaab Mossang.
