Puri residents hopeful for Sri Jagannath International Airport

Puri, Mar 11 (UNI) The residents of this pilgrim town are now hopeful that the Sri Jagannath International Airport project will proceed as planned.
This mega greenfield Airport project, initiated by the Naveen Patnaik government, was to be constructed on approximately 1,100 acres along the coast of Puri. However, it was nearly shelved following a change in state leadership, causing work to come to a standstill. Many believed the project would never see the light of day.
However, in a notification issued on Monday, Sub-Collector Rajkishore Jena announced the acquisition of 221 acres of private land in Sipasarubali and Shandhapur mouzas under the Brahmagiri Tehsil limits.
