Bettiah, April 20 (UNI)Sarvjeet, a policeman, shot dead his fellow policeman Sonu Kumar following a personal dispute in Bettiah police line.

Police said here on Sunday that Sarvjeet shot dead Sonu Kumar on Saturday late at night when he was getting ready for patrolling duty, after which he climbed to the top of the police barracks and started firing. Later, he was arrested.

After getting the information, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Harkishore Rai and other Senior Police officers reached the spot and investigated the incident.

The body of the deceased policeman who belonged to Bhabua was sent for postmortem. The relatives of the deceased have been informed about the incident. The sources said that Saravjeet and the deceased were recently transferred to Bettiah from Sikta and were posted in the same unit.

Meanwhile, DIG Roy said that both had some personal grievances, which resulted in the incident. The rifle that was used in the firing has been seized.
