Odisha: Police seize three 9mm pistols, 70 live cartridges from house in Coastal Kendrapara

Kendrapara, May 9 (UNI) The Kendrapara Town Police seized three magazine-loaded 9mm pistols, 70 live cartridges, and two mobile phones from the residence of one Sk. Oshim, confirmed Kendrapara Town IIC Dillip Kumar Sahoo.
Acting on a tip-off from reliable sources indicating that Oshim was allegedly storing illegal firearms and a large quantity of live ammunition, police conducted a raid and search operation at his house on Thursday night.
During the search, officers recovered three automatic 9mm pistols with magazines and 70 live cartridges. However, Oshim managed to flee the scene and evade arrest, said IIC Sahoo.
Police suspect Oshim's involvement in the illegal firearms trade. His role will be further verified once he is apprehended, Sahoo added.
Authorities also believe that Oshim may have procured the weapons from arms smugglers based in West Bengal and Bihar. He is also reportedly involved in illegal cattle trading and has a prior criminal record.
A case has been registered against him at the Kendrapara Town Police Station for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, raids are underway at several suspected hideouts in an effort to track him down, said Kendrapara SDPO Jyotiranjan Gauda.
