Tripura villagers apprehended 11 Bangladeshi

Agartala, May 9 (UNI) The villagers of Krishnanagar in Sabroom, South Tripura, on Friday apprehended as many as 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including four females and four minor children, hiding in an abandoned house near the border. The villagers handed them over to the police.
During interrogation, they admitted that they fled from Gujarat following the recent drive-out operation and were planning to cross the border to go back to Bangladesh. They had been illegally residing in Gujarat for the last few years, working in different unorganised sectors, but recently it became difficult for them to stay there.
“To evade the arrest, they managed to escape last week and travelled to Agartala by train. They were in the process of managing border security to cross over to Bangladesh safely, but villagers apprehended them. We have produced them to court seeking their remand for further investigation,” police said.
