Five Indian touts arrested from Agartala in separate raids

Agartala, Apr 22 (UNI) A combined force comprising Agartala General Railway Police (GRP), BSF and police on Tuesday arrested five Indian touts allegedly engaged in human trafficking from Bangladesh.

GRP said that over the past few weeks they had gathered concrete information from a number of nabbed Bangladeshi infiltrators about Indian persons who had helped them cross over into Tripura for fanning out in different states of India. Acting on the feedback, the combined force raided Shanmura, Sharma Lunga Das para area and Lankamura Bhumiheen colony and nabbed the five traffickers.

The persons arrested are identified as Suman Das (39) of Shanmura village near Loknath Ashram, Rahul Das (27) of Shanmura, Biswajit Das (49) of Sharma Lunga Das Para, Anibesh Sarkar (31) of Sharma Lunga Das Para and Juiyal Sarkar (26) of Lankamura Bhumiheen Colony.

They all have been handed over to the West Agartala police station to be produced in court, seeking remand for interrogation in custody to trace out other links in the chain of trafficking from Bangladesh. There are many cases pending against them under the Foreigners Act, the Anti-Trafficking Act and other acts against illegal activities.
