Arunachal seeks Rs 6.69 lakh crore financial package from 16th Finance Commission

Itanagar, Apr 8 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government has sought a massive financial package of Rs 6.69 lakh crore from the 16th Finance Commission, citing the state's unique developmental needs, ecological importance, and strategic location.
Finance Commission (FC) member Annie George Mathew, talking to reporters at the State Banquet Hall here on Tuesday, detailed the State's memorandum, which includes Rs 5,000 crore for disaster management, Rs 36,097.6 crore for local body grants, Rs 10,227 crore for resource augmentation, forest and sustainable development, Rs 55,558 crore for addressing state specific issues, and Rs 5.81 lakh crore as a special package and state-specific grants.
The state has also urged the Commission to increase the vertical devolution share from the current 41 percent to 47 percent, arguing for a more equitable distribution among states.
