Puri, May 7 (UNI) A three-member team from the National Security Guard (NSG) arrived in Puri to carry out a security assessment of the Shri Jagannath Temple. The NSG team is continuing its inspection of the existing security arrangements provided by the state and is expected to submit its recommendations to both the temple authorities and the district administration.
Given that the Shri Jagannath Temple is considered a potential soft target for terrorist attacks, the NSG may propose several preventive measures.
In light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the NSG is likely to recommend enhanced security, especially during the annual Rath Yatra, when lakhs of devotees gather at the temple.
Puri District Magistrate, Sidharth Shankar Swain, stated that all suggestions made by the NSG would be implemented to ensure the safety of the temple.
