Amid Indo-Pak tension, Bihar districts bordering with Nepal put on high alert

Patna, May 10 (UNI) Bihar districts bordering with Nepal have been placed on high alert amid the heightened India-Pakistan tensions. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high level review meeting with senior officials of the districts concerned.
Kumar held a high level meeting in Purnia with top officials of districts bordering with Nepal and directed them to be on high alert for any emergency situation amid the heightened India-Pakistani tension.
During the meeting, he took stock of preparedness in bordering districts to face the challenge of emergency situation after Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian armed forces targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir( PoK).
Districts bordering with Nepal put on high alert are-- Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria and Supaul.
Chief Minister, while addressing the meeting, said that tension between India and Pakistan had heightened following Operation Sindoor conducted by the Indian Armed forces in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack claiming lives of 26 innocent people.
Although, the border of Bihar did not fall with Pakistan, but it was essential to be alert as some districts of the state were based bordering with Nepal and Bangladesh, he added.
"Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our Armed forces are carrying out operations to face the challenges from across the border and it is highly appreciable", Kumar said adding that his government and people of Bihar were solidly behind PM Modi in this situation.
The Bihar government was working in close coordination with the Centre and taking all required steps to face the situation, he added.
"We profusely appreciate the operations being conducted by our Armed forces to foil nefarious design of Pakistan," the Chief Minister said adding that patrolling should be intensified in all districts of Bihar with Pakistan and strict vigil be maintained to keep an eye on suspicious elements trying to enter in Bihar from Nepal or Bangladesh.
Railway tracks, religious places and other sensitive locations should also be protected and efforts should be made to thwart any attempt of suspicious elements to create disturbance, he added.
"Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Bihar Police and Central Paramilitary Forces should work in close coordination with each other to keep hawk eye on anti social elements to foil their attempts in jeopardising the safety and security of the people," Chief Minister said, adding that oil depots, airports, gas stations, petrol-diesel depots were places which needed special attention of security personnel to ensure its safety.
Intelligence agencies should also be on high alert and inputs received from them should be used for prompt follow-up action, he stressed.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Lasy Singh, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar and other top police and civil officials participated in the meeting.
