Investigation launched against Tripura Congress leader for 'abusing' CM

Agartala, June 9 (UNI) The police on Monday launched a search against Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson Md Sahajan Islam for defamatory narratives and expressions against Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday night in a Facebook live session.
The officer-in-charge of East Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee, said that Sahajan words have triggered political unrest and hurt the communal sentiment of the people. "He made some derogatory comments on the professional and personal life of the Chief Minister, which is illegal," Chatterjee said.
“Indian law doesn’t permit a citizen to make a personal attack on the head of a state,” Chatterjee said, adding that a specific case has been registered against Sahajan Islam based on a complaint, and police launched an investigation.
