Winter migratory birds begin homeward journey from Bhitarkanika National Park

Kendrapara, Feb 25 (UNI) The mid-winter waterfowl birds, which had made their annual sojourn to Bhitarkanika National Park last October, have started their homeward journey from the park.
With the onset of winter, thousands of mid-winter waterfowl birds visit the Bhitarkanika water bodies every year, making it one of the favorite destinations for avian species in the state.
These birds fly thousands of miles to Bhitarkanika National Park to escape the harsh winters of Siberia, Afghanistan, Iraq, northern Asia, and some central European countries.
