WII conducts satellite tagging on two female Olive Ridley turtles to understand complex migration patterns

Kendrapara, Mar 13 (UNI) Satellite tagging was conducted on the carapace of two endangered female Olive Ridley sea turtles at Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary to study their complex migration patterns and behavior.
The Dehradun-based Wildlife Institute of India (WII) fitted satellite tags on two female Olive Ridley sea turtles on Wednesday night and Thursday at Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, the largest rookery of the species.
According to Sudarshan Gopinath Jadav, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Rajnagar Mangrove Forest and Wildlife Division, the satellite tags were attached to one female turtle each at Nasi-2 and Ekakula Nasi.
