'Cheruva’: Kakinada SP’s novel idea to bring Police closer to people

Kakinada, May 6 (UNI) Kakinada District Superintendent of police Garikipati Bindu Madhav on Tuesday announced a novel idea `CHERUVA’ to bring police closer to the people in the true spirit of friendly policing.
As a part of his new policy, the SP has convened a meeting of the representatives of traders associations, office bearers of the Godavari chamber of commerce at the district police office here on Tuesday.
Interacting with them, the SP said that the aim of `Cheruva” was to strengthen the police's relations with the people and elicit their views on the functioning of the police at the field level.
Besides ensuring public safety, improving the service motto among the police and thereby reducing the distance between police and people is the motto’ he added.
The representatives of the traders and other associations explained their difficulties and problems and made suitable suggestions.
Among the issues raised by them are traffic problems, fake calls, YouTube threats, thefts of two wheelers and cell phones, difficulties faced from fake traders.
Shops, hotels and Malls working hours, Sunday market problems were also raised by them.
The SP assured them of effective steps to regulate the traffic and lorry loading and unloading operations during peak hours.
He told them that 24 new traffic signals were being arranged to solve the traffic problems and asked the traders to install CC cameras at every shop including some facing the road.
Regarding cell phone thefts, he suggested that the public complain through the 9490617852 whatsapp number.
On cyber crimes the SP advised not to answer fake video calls and not to get frightened on ` digital arrest’ threats.
Bindu Madhav assured he would take up their request on extending the closing time of hotels and Malls for the convenience of tourists till 11pm with the district collector. UNI KNR SSP
