BJP expels Karnataka MLA Yatnal for six years for indiscipline

New Delhi, Mar 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday expelled its Karnataka MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for six years, citing repeated instances of indiscipline.
The decision was announced by the party's Central Disciplinary Committee, which instructed Yatnal to refrain from anti-party related activities.
According to the official statement, Yatnal was served a show cause notice on February 10 regarding his conduct. After reviewing his response, the committee found that he had continuously disregarded party discipline despite prior warnings. Consequently, the BJP leadership has decided to expel him with immediate effect.
Reacting to the development, the former Union Minister claimed that his explusion from the party was a result of his vocal opposition to dynasty politics and corruption.
In a post on social media platform X, he alleged that vested interests within the party orchestrated his expulsion to silence his efforts for reforms and the development of North Karnataka.
"The decision to expel me will not deter my fight against corruption and family politics. I will continue to work for the people of North Karnataka with the same dedication and determination," Yatnal said.
A known critic of former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his son, Vijayendra, Yatnal had previously accused the Yediyurappa-led government of financial irregularities amounting to ₹40,000 crore during the COVID-19 pandemic. He had also faced multiple disciplinary actions in the past for his defiant stance against party leadership.
