EAM Jaishankar discusses bilateral trade, connectivity with visiting Armenian FM

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today held productive talks with visiting Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan on the entire range of growing India-Armenia bilateral cooperation, including trade, and connectivity, besides others.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia is on an official visit to India from March 9-11 at the invitation of EAM Jaishankar.
The two ministers held productive discussions where they reviewed the whole range of growing India-Armenia bilateral cooperation including in the areas of political exchanges, trade, economic, connectivity, education, culture, and people-to-people contacts, a statement said.
They agreed to explore cooperation in digital technologies, and pharmaceuticals. The discussions also focused on multilateral cooperation at the UN and other fora. The Ministers also exchanged views on regional and global matters of shared interest.
The following MoUs were signed during the visit:
i. MoU on Cooperation between Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service and Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia
ii. MoU between Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), India and Center of Drug and Medical Technology Expertise (CDMTE), Armenia on cooperation in the field of regulation of medical products
The Armenian Foreign Minister also delivered a lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs on ‘Armenia-India in a Changing World: Strengthening Ties, Securing Futures Relations in the Changing World’ and interacted with scholars and researchers.
India and Armenia share warm and cordial historical ties. Regular interactions and exchange of visits at various levels between the two countries have contributed to the strong and multifaceted mutually beneficial partnership, it added.
The Armenian FM, who delivered a lecture at the ICWA, said on X:
“Delighted to start my official visit to #India with the engagement at @ICWA_NewDelhi as we explore the vast potential in further strengthening the #strategic ties between Armenia and India.
“While our nations share deep historical bonds, today we have achieved concrete results in numerous spheres of mutual interest, including economy, security & defense, information technologies, education, & culture.
“As we view these relations from a long-term perspective, we continue working jointly towards more ambitious projects, including connectivity.
“Our vision on establishment of lasting peace in #SouthCaucasus, perhaps could have not been defined better than through Mahatma Gandhi’s famous message: “There is no way to #peace, peace is the way.”
