PM Modi lauds 10 years of Digital India initiative

New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lauded the successful completion of 10 years of the Digital India initiative, calling it a historic milestone in the country’s journey towards becoming a digitally empowered and technologically advanced society.



The Prime Minister shared a thread on X, posted by MyGovIndia, to mark the occasion.





He emphasised that the Digital India initiative, launched a decade ago, has significantly impacted the lives of millions and contributed to the nation’s growth, particularly in sectors like digital payments, healthcare, and education.



In his post, the Prime Minister said, "Today is a historic day as we mark #10YearsOfDigitalIndia! Ten years ago, Digital India began as an initiative to transform our nation into a digitally empowered and technologically advanced society”.





“A decade later, we stand witness to a journey that has touched countless lives and ushered in a new era of empowerment. India has made many strides in digital payments, powered by the collective resolve of 140 crore Indians. Sectors like health and education have also benefitted from this initiative, he added".



He further highlighted the transformative impact of the programme, highlighting its far-reaching effects on the lives of ordinary citizens. "This thread offers a glimpse of the transformation and its scale!" he added.



Notably, the Digital India initiative, launched in 2015, to enhance online infrastructure, increase internet connectivity, and improve digital literacy.



MyGovIndia on X said, “In 2015, PM @narendramodi launched Digital India to make technology accessible for all”.



“A decade later, India leads in real-time digital payments, has one of the fastest 5G rollouts, and is building future-ready tech like AI and semiconductors. Whether it’s a remote village or a rising startup, Digital India is unlocking opportunity everywhere. The numbers don’t whisper. They roar,” it added.
