PM Modi received by Ghana President on arrival in Accra

New Delhi, July 2 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Accra today on a State Visit to Ghana on the first leg of his week-long five-nation tour.

In a special gesture, on arrival at the airport the Prime Minister was received by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and accorded a ceremonial welcome.

‘’This gesture is reflective of the strong and historic bonds of friendship between the two nations,’’
an official spokesman said here.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Ghana is the first such visit in the last three decades and will further deepen the partnership between India and Ghana. It also underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its engagement with Africa and Global South Partners, the spokesman said.

Prime Minister Modi will address Ghana’s Parliament tomorrow.

Describing Ghana as ''a valued friend in Africa and a key partner in the Global South,'' he said the talks with President John Dramani Mahama will provide an opportunity to boost India-Ghana friendship across various sectors. It is also an honour to be getting the opportunity to address the Parliament of Ghana tomorrow,’’ the Prime Minister said in his Departure Statement. UNI RB SSP
