India, Thailand elevate ties to Strategic Partnership after talks between PM Modi, Thai PM Shinawatra

Bangkok/New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) India and Thailand agreed to elevate the bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership, following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra at the Government House in Bangkok today.

PM Modi was also accorded a ceremonial welcome ahead of the talks.

MEA spokesperson said in posts on X:

“India-Thailand| Adding new vigour & dynamism to our longstanding friendship.

“PM @narendramodi held a productive meeting with PM @ingshin

of Thailand at the Government House today in Bangkok.

“Both leaders held extensive discussions on various areas of bilateral cooperation & agreed to elevate India-Thailand relations to a Strategic Partnership.”

“A special ceremonial welcome with Guard of Honour.

“PM @ingshin of Thailand warmly received PM @narendramodi at the Government House in Bangkok today.

“The two leaders will have wide-ranging discussions for charting the way for future India-Thailand partnership.”

PM Modi was also presented with the Holy Scriptures: “World Ti-pitaka: Sajjhaya Phonetic Edition” by the Prime Minister of Thailand, Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

It was brought out by the Thai government in 2016 to commemorate King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit of Thailand's 70-year reign.

It is a compilation of Lord Buddha’s teachings with accurate pronunciation of the Pali Tipiṭaka's over nine million syllables. Thai Govt has presented it as a “Gift of Peace and Wisdom for All” from the Kingdom of Thailand to more than 30 countries.
