Op Sindoor: France backs India in its 'fight against terror groups'

Paris/New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) France today said it “supports India in its fight against terrorist groups”, in a big show of support following India’s cross-border strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and POK.

In a statement, the Spokesperson of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, said:

“France condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April and expressed its full solidarity with India.

“France supports India in its fight against terrorist groups.

“France is deeply concerned about the latest developments between India and Pakistan.

“It calls for de-escalation and the protection of civilians.

It also said that the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation and its embassies in Islamabad and New Delhi are mobilised to assist French nationals.

Earlier, EAM S Jaishankar held a joint telecon with the foreign ministers of France - Jean-Noël Barrot - and Germany - Johann Wadephul.

“Had a joint telecon with FM @jnbarrot of France & FM @JoWadephul of Germany.

"Appreciated their solidarity and support in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Discussed ensuring zero tolerance for terrorism.”

Earlier, India conducted cross-border strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and POK, in revenge for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were brutally gunned down by Pakistan-based terrorists.
