US VP JD Vance, Usha Vance to visit India next week, meet PM Modi

New Delhi/Washington, Apr 16 (UNI) US Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance are visiting India early next week, during which they will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Vice President’s Office said today.
The US Vice President and his wife, who is of Indian origin, will visit Italy and India from April 18 to 24, his office announced.
The US VP "will discuss shared economic and geopolitical priorities with leaders in each country", his office said. The visit comes amid trade discussions between the US and India, with the two sides trying to stitch up a Bilateral Free Trade Agreement.
During the India visit, the VP will visit New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. The Vice President and Second Family will also participate in engagements at cultural sites, the announcement said.
Usha Vance’s parents emigrated to the US from India.
The Vance's are expected to bring their three young children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — with them on the trip, CBS News reported.

PM Modi had met with the US VP Vance and Usha Vance and their three children during his visit to Washington in February, and had presented gifts to the children.
This will be the vice president's first time visiting India, according to a spokesperson for Vance.
Vance visited Paris and Munich, Germany, in February to speak at several conferences where he criticised European allies for censorship on free speech and burden sharing for defense spending.
Vance also visited Greenland in March with his wife and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz amid the fallout from the Signal group chat controversy, when Waltz mistakenly added journalist Jeffrey Goldberg to a group chat that included Vance and featured discussions of military action against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The Trump administration has also expressed an interest in taking control of Greenland, a self-governing territory in the Kingdom of Denmark, CBS reported.
