Police launch pilot project to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims

Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) Additional Chief Secretary of Haryana's Home Department, Sumita Mishra said the Central Government has expressed concern over the increasing road accidents in the country.
She said the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued guidelines in this regard to the state police. The one hour after the accident is the golden hour, so if the victims are taken to the nearest hospital, precious lives can be saved.
She said the Haryana police has taken a unique initiative in this regard and is providing cashless treatment facility of Rs 1.5 lakh to the injured victims, the duration of which will be a maximum of seven days from the date of the accident.
