E-FIR registration facility, boon for J&K citizens, police spread awareness

Jammu, Feb 28 (UNI) Spreading awareness among the general public on e-FIR registration, the facility is turning out to be a boon for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
The police spokesman here said that under the new criminal laws of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the citizens have been provided with the facility of lodging their complaints in any of the electronic forms, like SMS, email, WhatsApp, Citizen Service Centres, and Web Portal/Internet (Eforms), in addition to verbal, telephonic, or written complaints.
As of date, he said that 52 complaints have been received through SMS and Email in different police stations of UT, adding, “In addition, 64 complaints have been received on Citizen Service Centres and 10 complaints from Web Portal/ Internet (Eforms) and more than 70 such complaints have been converted into FIRs.”
