Leo By-pass road issue to be raised with Union Home Minister: PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh

Shimla, Mar 12(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Government would take up the issue of Leo by pass road of Lahaul Spiti district proposed to connect the district with Kinnuar with the centre soon as this road could not be completed by the state Public work department during last 20 yrs.
In response to a query by Lahaul Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana, Public Works Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh stated that the issue of the Leo By-pass road would soon be raised with the Union Home Minister. He acknowledged that despite efforts to hand over the road to the Border Roads Organization (BRO), the construction of this strategic route has not progressed as expected. The project, which spans just two kilometers, has been under development for 20 years and is a critical link between the Lahaul Spiti and Kinnuar districts.
The state government sent a proposal to the Centre in 2024 to bring the road under BRO’s jurisdiction, but no response has been received so far. Minister Singh assured that he would visit Delhi soon to escalate the matter. He also noted that the state plans to hand over other roads to BRO, primarily for national security purposes, though they may not be crucial for local residents.
