Chandigarh, Mar 13 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Thursday arrested Pawan Kumar,
a deed writer in Jalandhar district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
An official spokesperson of the VB revealed that the arrest was made based on an online complaint
filed by a resident of Phagwara on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded and accepted the bribe on behalf of Joint Sub-Registrar of Sub-Tehsil Goraya in Tehsil Phillaur and a Registry Clerk, posted at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Goraya, in connection with the execution of a sale deed.
A case has been registered against him at the VB Police station, Range Jalandhar. He will be produced before the competent court tomorrow.
He added that the roles of the Joint Sub-Registrar and Registry Clerk would be examined as the investigation progresses. UNI GS SSP
