J&K ACB produces challan against BDO, Post Office officials

Jammu, May 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday produced challan in bribery case before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda, against officials of Block Development Office and Post Office employees in Kishtwar.
The ACB spokesman here in a statement said that the Challan was produced against accused persons namely Irshad Ahmed Kichloo of Kishtwar, the then MPW Panchayat Keshwan, Vijay Kumar of Thakrai, Kishtwar, the then Gramin Dak Sevak, Branch Post office Thakrai and Abdul Samad of Nagrana Keshwan, Kishtwar.
The instant case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted into the allegations that one Abdul Samad and Officials of Block Development Office, Kishtwar/Post Office Thakrai, Kishtwar in league with each other have committed large scale bungling since 2009 and managed to open 21 fake accounts in the Post Office, Branch Thakrai without their knowledge and after opening these accounts the officials of BDO office Kishtwar prepared fake invoices and credited/deposited money in these accounts.
Subsequently payment and wages amounting to Rs.4,32,327/- were released in favour of these 21 alleged fake accounts holders which were opened at Post Office Thakeri and remained operational from August 2009 to April 2012.
In this way, the accused persons in connivance with each other misappropriated the amount and caused loss to the state exchequer, said the handout.
