Jammu Police arrest four persons with pistol, weapon in separate incidents

Jammu, Apr 21 (UNI) Police have arrested four persons including two for aerial firing in a wedding in two separate incidents in Jammu district.
The spokesman said that tightening the noose around criminals and notorious elements, Police achieved a major breakthrough by apprehending a notorious criminal and his associate in Nowabad area.
One pistol along with a live round was recovered from the possession of the accused, while a sharp weapon) was recovered from his associate.
He added on the directions of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, a police team from Police Station Nowabad laid a random naka near T-Point on the Fourth Tawi Bridge.
During the routine vehicle checking, a two-wheeler heading towards Bhagwati Nagar Chowk was stopped for checking.
On being stopped, he said that two riders began behaving suspiciously, raising doubt in the minds of the naka party.
Upon their personal search, one pistol with a live round was recovered from Aniket Mottan alias Babblu, resident of Bahadur Khan, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu.
A sharp weapon was recovered from his associate Aniket Dutta, resident Resham Ghar Colony, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, who was riding the scooty.
During sustained questioning, both confessed that they were on their way to eliminate a notorious rival from the city area, driven by personal grudges. Due to the proactive and professional approach of Nowabad Police, a major criminal act was successfully averted, he added.
The spokesman said that the arrest of Babblu also turned out to be a significant success, as he was indirectly involved in the Greater Kailash dacoity case—he had destroyed crucial evidence in that sensational case and had been on the police radar since then.
A case under relevant section is registered and investigation started.
The police team was led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, Station House Officer, Nowabad and assisted by PSI Vikram Singh Manhas In-chargw PP Canal Road and others.
In another incident, police received information regarding an incident of aerial firing that occurred during the intervening night of April 20-21 at a wedding function in the Gharota area. The act created panic among attendees and posed a serious threat to public safety.
Acting swiftly, Police took immediate cognizance of the matter and registered an FIR under relevant sections of law.
A video of the incident, which surfaced on social media platforms, further confirmed the occurrence of the reckless act.
A team led by SHO Gharota, Inspector Sunil Sharma, launched a prompt investigation using technical surveillance and human intelligence. The efforts led to the successful tracing and arrest of the three individuals involved in the incident.
The accused have been identified as Mohan Singh, Santokh Singh and Bahadur Singh.
The trio allegedly fired multiple rounds from a pistol and a revolver during the celebration held at a palace in the Gharota area, said police adding that both weapons have been recovered and seized from their possession.
