One killed in clash in Kaushambi, accused detained

Kaushambi (UP), Mar 17 (UNI) One person was killed in a violent clash between two parties allegedly over installing a motor in a government hand pump Sandipan Ghat area of Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said.

Police sources said that Ram Naresh Maurya, a resident of Paschim Tola Mahgaon, draws drinking water by installing an electric motor in the government hand pump. "On Monday, his neighbour Anil wanted to fill water which led to a dispute between the two," they said.

Police sources said that after hearing the noise, Anil's friend Saifi (35) came to the spot and started supporting the former. "Soon Ram Naresh and his family started fighting with sticks. Meanwhile, Ram Naresh hit Saifi on the head with a stick, due to which he fell seriously injured and died on the spot," they said.

Circle Officer Satyendra Tiwari said that the main accused Ram Naresh has been taken into custody.
