Schools, colleges partially reopen in five border districts of Jammu region

Jammu, May 15 (UNI) Nearly ten days after escalated tension between India and Pakistan, schools and colleges have partially reopened on Thursday in five border districts of the Jammu region as normalcy is restoring and life is limping back in these belts.

However, educational institutions adjoining the border are still closed till further orders.

Officials said that amid the ongoing tension on the border, schools and colleges in border districts of the Jammu region were closed as a precautionary measure, but now, after the restoration of peace after around ten days, schools and colleges in Jammu city and the surrounding districts have reopened.

“The administration has ordered that the schools located near the border areas in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch remain closed,” they said.

“As normalcy is returning on the border after India-Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire on May 11, class works resumed and students reached schools and colleges on Thursday morning,” officials said.

They said that special prayers were offered in schools during the morning assembly for peace and paying tributes to those who lost their lives in the shelling.

Students expressed that peace and good relations must prevail between both the nations so that their studies and normal life do not get affected.

As per the order issued by the government, the schools shall reopen partially in parts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts, and those adjoining the border in these districts shall remain closed till further orders.
