After backlash, designer duo behind Gulmarg fashion show apologize

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Designer duo Shivan & Narresh have deeply regretted any hurt caused by their recent presentation in Gulmarg during the holy month of Ramadan.

They have also issued an apology for any unintended discomfort.

The controversial fashion event featuring models was held on March 7 at the snow slopes of Gulmarg and was hosted by designer duo Shivan and Narresh. The pictures and video of the show surfaced on social media, triggering widespread backlash with Kashmir’s politicians terming it “outrageous” and “obscene”.
“Our sole intention was to celebrate creativity and the ski & après-ski lifestyle, without any desire to offend anyone or any religious sentiments. Respect for all cultures and traditions is at our heart, and we acknowledge the concerns raised. We sincerely apologize for any unintended discomfort and appreciate the feedback from our community. We remain committed to being more mindful and respectful,” Shivan and Narresh said in a post on X.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also facing Opposition’s heat over the fashion show, said that there was no role of the government in organising the event.
