Leadership rift erupts in Himachal Pensioners Welfare Association amid pending dues

Shimla, Apr 10 (UNI) A recent video that has gone viral on social media shows a heated altercation among office bearers of the Himachal Pradesh Pensioners Welfare Association, exposing deep internal rifts in the organisation.
The confrontation took place publicly on Mall Road in Shimla, near Himani Restaurant, where members of the Association’s Shimla unit, led by newly-appointed city unit President Madan Sharma, clashed with state-level office bearers loyal to Association President Atmaram Sharma.
While Atmaram Sharma himself was not directly confronted, his supporting officials faced sharp criticism from the Shimla unit representatives. The primary contention revolves around Sharma continuing as president beyond his official term, which reportedly ended on March 27, 2025. His decision to expel certain members — allegedly for associating with political figures including opposition leaders — has sparked controversy, with critics calling his actions unconstitutional.
