Armed forces down surveillance drone in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, May 12 (UNI) The armed forces downed a surveillance drone at around 9.20 pm near Jalandhar's Mand village in Punjab.
District Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Agarwal said late Monday, “I am told that the armed forces have downed a surveillance drone near the village Mand at around 9.20 pm.
"The expert team is searching for the debris. If you see debris please inform the nearest police station.
He further added: "It has also been reported that no drone activity has been observed in Jalandhar since 10 pm.”
Himanshu also requested people to keep calm and not burst firecrackers as has been reported in some areas. He warned of strict police action against those found trying to spread panic.
Earlier, the district administration had switched off the lights as a precautionary measure when some Pakistani drones were reported to be sighted in Suranasi, Jalandhar.
Himanshu reported that, at “9.15 pm, lights have been switched off as a precaution in some areas around Suranasi as there have been reports of some drones being spotted. We are confirming them.
"There is no blackout yet. Armed forces officials have confirmed that there is nothing to worry about. They are regularly monitoring the situation as usual.”
Significantly, a few hours after the talk between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan today, some suspected drones were also seen near the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir sent by Pakistan.
