Srinagar Police raid eight more homes in crackdown on terror ecosystem, over 150 searched in two weeks

Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) Srinagar Police has intensified its crackdown under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), targeting individuals linked with proscribed outfits.

On Monday as part of ongoing investigations into UAPA cases, police teams carried out extensive searches at eight locations across the city, focusing on the residences of suspected terrorist associates.

In Srinagar, the police have so far searched the residences of over 150 suspected terrorist associates over the last fortnight.

A police statement said the searches were conducted in accordance with proper legal procedures in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses under the supervision of the officers of J&K Police.

Police said the searches were conducted in the houses of Adil Manzoor Langoo of Zaldagar; Basit Bilal Makaya of DoomKadal; Waseem Tariq Matta of Rampora; Fayaz Ahmad Lone, an ex militant of Kaw Mohalla; Mohammad Ashraf Kaloo of Aabi Gurpora; Qazi Usman of Devi Angan Hawal; Muzaffar Ahmad Magray of Qalamdanpora and Shahbaz Farooq Bhat of Palpora Noorbagh.

“The searches were carried out to seize arms, documents, digital devices etc. with the objective of evidence collection and intelligence gathering to detect and deter any conspiratorial or terrorist activity against the security of the Nation,” police said.

This decisive action of J&K Police aims to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and taking legal action against individuals engaged in such anti-national and criminal activities, the statement added.

Srinagar Police said it remains committed to safeguarding peace and security in the city.

“Any individual found furthering the agenda of violence, disruption, or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences under the law,” the statement said.
