Lucknow, Apr 16 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday demanded the central government restore National Security Guard (NSG) security for party president Akhilesh Yadav.
In a letter sent to the Union Home Minister, the party's state spokesperson, Fakhrul Hasan Chaand, has said that SP is the third largest party in the country, whose president has been openly threatened with deadly attacks in the past few days, on which the state government has not taken any action. "Since the party president keeps visiting other states besides UP, it is necessary to provide him with Z-plus category security along with NSG cover," he said.
He said that earlier, the SP chief was given NSG security cover along with Z-plus security, but due to certain reasons, the NSG cover was removed. "Recently, a person openly threatened to kill the SP chief. Apart from this, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also threatened to kill Akhilesh, the video of which went viral on social media, but the state government did not take any action in this regard," he said.
