Lucknow, Mar 5 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday came to the rescue of his MLA Abu Azmi, who has been suspended from the budget session of Maharashtra assembly, over his controversial remarks praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and said that to thing that 'suspension' can put a rein on truth is 'childishness'.
Taking to X, Akhilesh wrote, "The basis of suspension, if it starts being influenced by ideology, then what difference will remain between freedom of expression and subservience. Be it our legislators or parliamentarians, their fearless wisdom is unparalleled. If some people think that 'suspension' can put a rein on the tongue of truth, then this is the childishness of their negative thinking."
It may be noted that on Wednesday SP MLA Abu Azmi was suspended from the Maharashtra Assembly on Wednesday over his controversial remark praising Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. He has been suspended till the end of Maharashtra legislature’s ongoing budget session, which is set to conclude on March 26.
