Some bigots have converted Holi celebration into a source of fear for minorities: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday lamented that certain "bigots" have transformed Holi festivities, once a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, into a "source of fear " for minorities.

In a post on X, Mufti said,” Holi for me has always symbolized India’s Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb. I fondly remember eagerly awaiting the festival & celebrating it with my Hindu friends with immense joy & enthusiasm.”

“ However some bigots have now converted this celebration into a source of fear for minorities with the approval of those in power. It’s time to wake up India. Wishing everyone a Happy Holi! Bigots,” the Peoples Democratic Party chief said.

On Thursday while responding to the controversies over Holi celebrations and Friday prayers that coincide during the fasting month of Ramazan, Mufti had said that a communal poison is being spread in the country which would have devastating ramifications.
