Congress MP demands answer from Govt over treatment of Indian economic migrants

Chandigarh, Feb 16 (UNI) Enraged over the kind of treatment being meted out to Indian deportees by the US, Congress MP from Chandigarh Manish Tewari on Sunday sought an answer from the Union government as to why it could not send its own commercial flights to bring back economic migrants.
As second US Army plane carrying immigrants landed at Amritsar on Saturday night, Tewari took to X (earlier Twitter) to condemn the treatment meted out to Indians.
He wrote that if despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to USA and meeting with US President Donald Trump, Indians were still being deported back shackled and probably handcuffed like galley slaves in ancient times there could be nothing more shameful for India and Indians.
