Sambhal is a reality, its history dates back 5,000 years: Yogi

Lucknow, Mar 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that in the Puranas, written 5,000 years ago, Sambhal is mentioned as the place where Lord Vishnu's tenth incarnation will appear.
While addressing 'Manthan: Kumbh and Beyond' Vichar Sangam programme organised by Organiser, the CM said, "In 1526, Mughal commander Mir Baqi demolished a temple there, but today, 18 pilgrimage sites have been excavated in the area. Those who try to hide history should read the Puranas and then challenge me for a debate."
He said, "Islam arose 1400 years ago. I am talking about something that is at least 2000 years older than Islam. To snatch someone's belief and to trample their virtues is unacceptable. Especially when we know the truth of Sambhal, it is a reality."
Yogi emphasised that Sanatan Dharma respects all faiths and expressed pride in his saffron attire. "This is my identity. One day, the whole world will wear it," he said.
Calling India’s democracy mature, he said, "The people know everything and will always decide what is right and wrong."
He strongly criticised those who admire Aurangzeb, calling it a 'mental distortion'. Citing a book by Shah Jahan, he reminded people that Aurangzeb imprisoned his own father, denied him water and killed his brother.
Taking a dig, the CM said, "Those who consider Aurangzeb as their ideal should name their children after him and be ready to suffer his kind of cruelty. Glorifying Aurangzeb insults India's true heroes."
He emphasised that when politics is driven by self-interest, it benefits neither the leaders nor the people. He said that if politics is guided by public welfare, it will not only uplift society but also benefit those in power in the long run.
He said that India's democracy is deeply ingrained in its culture, even though it was formally adopted in 1952. "Democracy is embedded in every aspect of our nation, and the people are well aware of the truth. Those who mislead the public have been exposed and rejected," he said.
