Punjab: Police arrest two persons for leaking sensitive information, photos of army, IAF bases

Chandigarh, May 4 (UNI) In a significant counter-espionage operation, Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two persons for their alleged role in leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army Cantonment areas and Air Bases in Amritsar district, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.

He said in a post on social media X that preliminary investigation reveals the links of the two - Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih -- to Pakistani intelligence operatives, established through Harpreet Singh alias Pittu alias Happy, currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail. The arrests were made on Saturday.

DGP Yadav said that a case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act, and the investigation is ongoing.

Further critical revelations are expected as the probe deepens.

The arrests come amid the current heightened tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 persons, mostly tourists, were gunned down.
