Sad to see some people are attacking Kashmiris: Rahul

Srinagar, Apr 25 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have unequivocally condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and stand in full solidarity with the nation during this difficult time.

The Congress leader arrived in Srinagar earlier in the day and met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He discussed the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack that left 25 tourists and a local resident dead.
Rahul also visited the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, where he met a tourist injured in the assault.
"I came here to get a sense of what is going on and to help," Rahul told media in Srinagar. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir condemned this terrible action and they have fully supported the nation at this time.”
He also expressed concern over reports of Kashmiri students and workers being harassed in other parts of the country following the attack.
“It is sad to see that some people are attacking my brothers and sisters from Kashmir in the rest of country and I think it's very important that all of us stand together, stand united and fight this nasty action that has been taken and defeat terrorism once and for all,” Gandhi said.

Rahul warned against attempts to sow division in the country.
“The goal of terrorist attack is to divide society, to turn brother against brother. It is very important that every single Indian stands united, stands together so that he can defeat what the terrorists were trying to do,” he said.
Expressing condolences to the victims and their families, Gandhi said, “I met one of the injured tourists at the hospital. I couldn't meet other family members because the injured people have gone back. My love and affection to everybody who has lost family members and I want everybody to know that the whole nation is standing together as one.”
Referring to the all-party meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday following the attack, Gandhi said the united Opposition condemned the attack.
"We assured the government that we are there to support whatever action they want to take,” he said.
Rahul added that both the L-G and Chief Minister briefed him about what happened at Pahalgam.
“I assured both of them that myself and our party is going to support fully,” he said.
